Adios claims to act as a metabolism booster and comes with a diet plan. How Adios Works. Adios is primarily advertised as a metabolism booster which is a method that is widely believed to help with weight loss. Before we look further into how Adios works, we must first look into the metabolism and see if in fact speeding up this process can help you to lose weight. What is the metabolism? Well it’s the process of breaking down fats, proteins and carbohydrates to convert them into energy that your body needs to function, and it’s this process that helps you to burn calories. It is believed that if you can increase your metabolism you can burn even more calories and lose weight. Often people who struggle to lose weight blame a slow metabolism; however, it is understood that overweight or obese people have higher metabolism than someone who is slimmer, and this is because they have larger bodies with bigger muscles and larger organs. So the fact is that it’s eating too much food that causes weight gain and not necessarily a slow metabolism. However, there are some people who in fact do suffer from a slow metabolism, which does result in people gaining weight. There are many causes for a slow metabolism such as: Hypothyroidism: This is an underactive thyroid and develops when a person isn’t able to produce enough thyroid hormone, which is responsible for the metabolism. Diet: If you’re fasting or eating a very low calorie diet this too can slow down your metabolism, which may prevent you from losing considerable amounts of weight. Water: Not drinking enough water can also slow down your metabolism because most of the body’s functions require water to work properly and if you’re not getting enough your body can’t function as it should. Exercise: When your body is in good shape it works properly and having plenty of muscle increases your metabolic rate, which means you burn more calories just through your body’s regular functions. Those who do have a slow metabolism can boost it by doing things such as being more active, building muscle, eating protein etc. So with this in mind let’s look further into Adios and it’s ingredients to see how it actually claims to help boost your metabolism. The four main ingredients in Adios are; Butternut, Dandelion root, Boldo dry extract and Fucus dry extract, and it is these ingredients when combined can apparently help you to speed up your metabolism and lose weight. Fucus is a species of seaweed and the main ingredient in Adios; it contains a very high amount of iodine. It has been said that people who have a deficiency of this natural chemical may not be producing enough of the hormone Thyroxin, which is thought to be responsible for regulating metabolism. The theory is that Fucus will boost the metabolism. However, increasing iodine after a certain point does not stimulate metabolism, and nutritionists suggest that most people consume more than enough iodine in a normal healthy diet. Key Adios Ingredients. Fucus Dry Extract. Fucus is a macroscopic marine seaweed found in the northern hemisphere. Fucus is a popular homeopathic remedy and has been claimed to cure many illnesses such as preventing goiter and treating rheumatism. There are four species of Fucus; these are Fucus spiralis, Fucus serratus, Fucus guirgi and Fucus vesicoulous. Adios contains the Fucus vesicoulous species. It is believed that the iodine, which is present in the Fucus, works to stimulate the thyroid. The body uses iodine to make the thyroid hormone, which manages the body’s metabolism. So the thinking behind it is that with adding extra iodine you will burn more calories and lose weight; however it is said that if you already have a normal thyroid, we already ingest iodine through our normal diet e. In Adios, the bark of the butternut tree and not the nuts is used. Butternut is believed to have laxative and bowel supporting effects, which supposedly give a slight boost to the metabolism and digestion, though there is no evidence in support of this theory. Dandelion root. Dandelion is a weed that grows throughout Europe, Asia and North America. The dandelion root is claimed to have diuretic and laxative effects. Diuretics flush out excess fluid from your body, which may help to decrease bloating, and the puffiness associated with water retention. This is what helps you to lose water weight rather than fat, which is not a sustainable method of weight loss. Boldo Dry Extract. Boldo is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to central Chile and Peru, it is rich in antioxidants and is claimed to increase metabolism and treat digestive issues. It is also said to be a laxative and like the Dandelion root, it is thought to increase fluid loss. Clinical Studies. There have been no studies or scientific evidence to support Adios’s claims, nor have there been any clinical trials to prove the effects of fucus or the other ingredients. How Adios actually works, or if it works, shall remain a mystery until significant tests are done to support the claims. Adios Side Effects. There is a chance that the tablets may cause diarrhoea and increased urination due to the potential laxative and diuretic effects of some of the ingredients in the product. It is suggested that if you suffer from this you must stop taking the tablets straight away and drink plenty of fluids. The makers of Adios claim that they are unaware of any group of people who shouldn’t take Adios, however they recommend that if you suffer from a certain illness or medical condition then you are best to consult your doctor before taking. Many customers having taken Adios have complained about many more side effects such as; stomach cramps, bloating, nausea and even hair loss. Many of the symptoms such as the stomach cramps, nausea etc can be symptoms of the diarrhoea, but the hair loss may be a more serious side effect. The reason people may suffer hair loss could be down to hyperthyroidism http: //www. Thyroid- over- active/Pages/Introduction. Hyperthyroidism also known as overactive thyroid is the result of having too much of the thyroid hormone. You may wonder how this could come from taking an herbal tablet, well Adios contains Fucus and it’s this that contains iodine, which stimulates the thyroid producing more of the thyroid hormone. Now this stimulation is okay if you have an underactive thyroid, but if your thyroid is normal, taking in extra iodine may result in you developing hyperthyroidism and one of the symptoms of this is hair loss. Even though the side effects that I have discussed above are the only ones to have been mentioned either by customers or by the makers of Adios, there are still many other side effects that can be experienced due to Adios’s ingredients. Fucus. We have already looked into the hair loss side effect due to hyperthyroidism, but the high iodine content in Fucus can also cause many other side effects. These include acne type lesions, stomach irritation, and brassy taste in the mouth. Fucus can also lower blood sugar levels, thin the blood and has a laxative effect on the body. Butternut bark This appears to be safe for some people, but it can cause diarrhoea and irritation of the stomach and intestines. Dandelion root. Dandelion may be safe to take but there are some possible side effects and risks to certain people. The first side effect is an allergic reaction, which can cause mouth sores or skin rashes. People who have a known plant allergy are also at risk of being allergic to dandelion root. Dandelion root can also stop Quinolone antibiotics from being absorbed, and without the proper absorption, the antibiotics cannot work properly. It can also interfere with lithium, which is used to treat the manic episodes of someone who is suffering with manic depression. The final side effect is the increased bile flow, Dandelion is thought to improve gallbladder function and increase bile flow although this is beneficial for some people but those who have gallstones can experience a negative effect. Boldo Dry Extract. Boldo is not thought to be safe for consumption in medicinal amounts. It contains a chemical that may be able to cause liver damage. Those who suffer from liver, kidney or gallstone disease should not take Boldo because it can make these conditions worse. Boldo can also slow down blood clotting, which can increase the amount of bleeding that will occur during and after surgery. It is advised that you stop taking Boldo (or tablets with this in) two weeks before any planned surgery. So as you can see Adios may be an herbal tablet but even something natural can cause some serious side effects. As said before the possible side effects of each ingredient haven’t yet been experienced by takers of Adios, but if you do experience any of these side effects then you should stop taking them straight away and seek medical advice. How to Use. There are several different products in the Adios range; these include Adios, Adios Max, and Adios Quick Slim. Adios and Adios Max are sold in tablet form, whilst Adios Quick Slim is a meal replacement product that is consumed as a drink.
